This tutorial will explain how I added my site to google drive and monitor my website’s uptime/downtime . I get an sms alert to my mobile and email alert once my site is down and when my site is up again.
Google drive even allows you to add multiple websites or blogs to check its uptime/downtime.
The coolest part is once you have a registered phone no, you get the alerts via SMS all for free
Unless your a tech geek, I guess this is the only tool that helps in monitoring uptime/downtime and give SMS and email alerts without charging a penny and without writing a single line of code.
So lets start the process which has 5 simple steps,
Step 1 : Click here to create a copy of the document which will help you to utilize Website monitoring
Click on “Yes make a copy” after logging into your gmail account and your doc will be added in your google drive.
Step 2: You’ll see a new “Website Monitor” tab in the toolbar(extreme right). Click Initialize and you’ll get a pop-up asking for authorization. click Yes.

Step 3: Put your Website URLs in cell B2 (comma separated) and your email address in cell B3 as shown in the image above.
Step 4: Go to the “Website Monitor” tab again and choose “Step 2:Start Monitoring”.
Step 5: This step is needed only if you do not have a registered mobile no linked to your account.
Go to Google calendar → settings(inside the gear icon in the right) → Mobile setup tab
Thats it you will receive alerts regarding your website/blog’s uptime/downtime via SMS and email. There will be a log recorded in the same sheet as shown in the pic. If you do not wanna receive sms alerts just say “No” in cell B4.
